Following the 1:30 p.m. keynote by Chicago Tribune cartoonist Scott Stantis, you’ll have several hours of free time to enjoy camp and beyond (see Schedule). The following options will be led by our 50Forward planning team members. If you’d prefer to explore on your own or with your own group, check out some things to do in and around Asheville.
Option 1 – Tour a Brewery
Tour one of Asheville’s major craft breweries (details to come). Space is limited — sign up at in-person registration on Friday, Oct. 6.
Option 2 – Take a Hike!
Feeling energetic? We’ll lead you on a hike at Carl Sandburg National Historic Site to get those good brain chemicals flowing! Take a level hike around the lake (.4 miles) or climb Glassy Mountain (3 miles round trip; 623 feet elevation gain). Or tour the home, stroll to the barn and pet the goats! Sign up at in-person registration on Friday, Oct. 6.
Option 3 – Relax with Massage
Sign up at in-person registration on Friday, Oct. 6, for a massage session (details to come). Services provided at Lutheridge by Unity Healing Arts.
Option 4 – Lazoom City Comedy Tour
Cost: $26. Register on your own at Lazoom. Transportation to the Lazoom location is on your own.
“Historical and hysterical, our City Tours feature outrageously entertaining tour guides, outlandish comedy skits complete with special appearances, loads of Asheville information … and the rarely seen but stunningly beautiful Montford neighborhood, not to mention the burgeoning River Arts District! You’ve never had a ride like this. It’s like a vaudeville show on wheels!” ~ Lazoom
